This Techie Teacher…

As a Nationally Board Certified Teacher, I have always had a desire for learning and reflecting. My teaching and leading totally changed in 2002 when I received that honor. I have been teaching for eleven years in the high school English classroom. I have always had a working knowledge of computers and all things gadget. That knowledge did not make much difference until I was fortunate enough to interview for the 21st Century Learning Fellowship through the Alabama Best Practices Center. Through that two-year opportunity I was able to expand my knowledge and grow my network. I was accustomed to making a couple of presentations a year, and I was being given the opportunity to train and present real time and online.

I have taught in four different high schools, each with its own good and bad days. The one consistency is that great adaptive teachers make a real difference in students’ lives. My fire for technology integration has grown more, and I am getting more opportunities to share that with other teachers in the St. Clair County School System.

I am blessed with a wonderful math teacher husband (go figure) and two beautiful boys (8 and 1). God has been so good to me in my life and my career. Thank you for being a witness to it on this blog.
